This enchanting dwelling is placed inside an estate belonging to a biological farm endowed with a little restaurant and a small bed & breakfast (offering 3 rooms). The farm offers typical regional products as well as the direct sale of extra virgin olive-oil, Doc wines, vegetables, fruits and other delicacies from its own production. The house has been built with lava stone blocks and is harmoniously situated within the mildly undulating landscapes of the Aetna, prettily outlined by vineyards, olive-trees, oaks and dried low walls.

A little history:

A two hearts' nest located on the slopes of the Aetna. In the shadow of "the giant of fire" - the highest active volcano of Europe (3,440 metres) - you encounter the Casa Etnea, a marvellous little house settled in the vicinity of Ragalna, a peculiar little village inside the Park of the Aetna - the first protected area ever founded in Sicily - which was instituted in 1987.

The  house:

The materials used to create the bio-architecture of the Casa Etnea were taken directly from the landscapes of this area of Sicily: the chestnut-wood of the Aetna appears in the roof beams as well as in the doors and the windows; the reeds of the river Simeto form the ceilings, the terra cotta and the Sicilian ceramics expand on the pavements and on the walls. Manufactured articles contribute to create a pleasing sense of comfort in between functional and well-maintained furnishings. The secluded living-dining room with a sofa bed pleasantly merges into the contiguous kitchen corner where the attention gets caught by the shelf made out of lava stone of the Aetna. The same stone was used to make the shelf of the sink in the bathroom - this last consisting of an ante-bathroom and a shower - while the natural dyes of the double bed room embellish this space of the lodging with a touch of sober elegance. On the outside, the wide terrace and the small private garden invite you to relax in such an inspiring rural scenery with alternating vineyards and olive groves.
