The “Sigismondo” is a motor-equipped sailing ship that has been running between the Aeolian Islands, Sicily and the near mainland exclusively since 1946. Initially used for the shipment of goods between the islands and the mainland, the “Sigismondo” meanwhile has brought many passengers to and from the islands, among them several celebrities, such as Ingrid Bergmann and Roberto Rosselini, as well as the film crew of “Stromboli” (“Stromboli, terra di Dio”), the film that made the Aeolian Islands world-famous overnight in the 1950s.
