Sailing-cruise on the schooner „Sigismondo“ – On the trails of the adventurers
She is undisputedly one of the most beautiful ships sailing the Tyrrhenian Sea between the Aeolian (or Lipari) Islands: the historical two-master schooner “Sigismondo”, a ship built in 1901 and, thanks to conscientious maintenance and constant modernization, the ideal means of transportation for wonderful sailing-cruises on the trails of ancient and modern-day adventurers, steered and tended by Captain Felice and his crew, who have presented the beauty of the Aeolian Islands to innumerable guests from around the world. The “Sigismondo” is a motor-equipped sailing ship that has been running between the Aeolian Islands, Sicily and the near mainland exclusively since 1946. Initially used for the shipment of goods between the islands and the mainland, the “Sigismondo” meanwhile has brought many passengers to and from the islands, among them several celebrities, such as Ingrid Bergmann and Roberto Rosselini, as well as the film crew of “Stromboli” (“Stromboli, terra di Dio”), the film that made the Aeolian Islands world-famous overnight in the 1950s.
