Jewel-coloured seas, craggy coastlines, golden ribbons of sandy beach and the smoking silhouette of Mount Etna presiding over all – the treasures of Sicily have provided inspiration for artists, poets and writers throughout the ages. The winning combination of rich, historical heritage and astounding, natural beauty has created an ethereal island of ancient ruins and dramatic landscapes – an island where, according to Greek legend, the goddesses of fertility and love walked the shores.

For sun-seeking beach lovers
For those of us that believe no summer holiday is complete without a trip to the beach, Sicily will not disappoint. Take your pick from white, sandy beaches such as those at San Vito Lo Capo; picturesque pebble beaches like Milazzo; or the rocky coves of Castellmare del Golfo, a destination renowned for its excellent snorkelling and diving opportunities. Pick a Sicily apartment near the seaside town of your choice or rent a car and explore practically limitless options.
For food and wine buffs
Food and wine are amongst Sicily's main attractions. The bustling, open-air markets and vast, green vineyards are experiences no foodie or wine-lover should miss.
Greek Theatre at Syracuse
Think grilled seafood, creamy cheeses, fresh pasta, succulent meats and an array of colourful fruit and vegetables with a delicate pastry or decadent gelato for dessert. Culinary tours, wine tastings and Sicilian cooking lessons can easily be arranged.
For culture vultures
Sicily is chock-full of magnificent, ancient ruins and temples as well as beautiful architecture such as Baroque churches and Norman cathedrals. The UNESCO World Heritage site Agrigento, or the Valley of the Temples, is one of the most spectacular sites in the Mediterranean whilst the huge Greek theatre of Syracuse still hosts classical plays during its annual festival.
Zingaro Nature Reserve
Other highlights include the acropolis at Selinunte and the lagoon island of Mozia.
There are plenty of opportunities for active pursuits in Sicily. Ramblers will delight in protected parks such as the Zingaro Nature Reserve or the parkland around the Nebrodi mountains, which offers treks through the largest beech tree forest in Europe. Divers and snorkelers will enjoy sites such as the magical Egadi Islands where the sea teems with plenty of action below the surface, and hikers may choose to conquer one of Sicily's famous volcanoes – the towering Mount Etna or those of the Aeolian Islands.
Why choose a self-catered apartment in Sicily?
Terrazza Tramonto in Cefalu
In a destination like Sicily, part of the charm of the island is allowing yourself to relax into the local way of life. Choosing a self-catered apartment to stay in can play an important part in this as unlike a hotel or B&B you are free to treat your accommodation as a home-away-from-home, dining when you please and taking advantage of the additional space that renting an entire property can provide.
In some of the more traditional towns or unspoiled areas where hotels and large resorts have not taken over the landscape, renting an apartment is the best way to settle into Sicilian life.
Terazza Arte e Blue
Our apartments differ from our villas in that they are more compact and therefore tend to be situated in easily accessible locations, close to facilities and right in the heart of the action. Whether you are looking for a romantic getaway for two or a family-sized apartment that provides a little more space, we are confident our apartments to rent in Sicily will provide the ideal option for you.
