The second largest of the Aeolian Islands, Salina is a UNESCO World Heritage site located North of Sicily.  Salina is a volcanic island consisting of barely recognizable craters, very lush and green, fertile lands and the first Aeolian island to protect its environment with a natural preserve, the Riserva Naturale del Fossa delle Felci e dei Porri.  These fertile lands produce the famous golden Malvasia wine which is produced exclusively on Salina. The island is also famous for its production of the low acid olive oil and the caper festival which is held during the first week of June. Salina is very popular holiday island particularly for those seeking true relaxation.
