Cefalù makes it very easy for you to get by completely without a car if desired. The medieval town of Cefalù, though small, is not to be underestimated to say the least as it offers outstanding locations and sights, such as the Norman Cathedral of Cefalù, which on the exterior bears the common characteristics of a beautiful Sicilian church of the period, but in its interior presents the oldest Byzantine-Norman mosaic in Sicily and one of the finest in the world. Explore this and more as you walk through the charming cobbled streets and alleys, dine in any of the numerous romantic waterfront restaurants with breathtaking views, and, if you are up for a bit of adventure, ‘La Rocca’ (The Rock) is a great opportunity for hiking. At its summit you will be rewarded with the ruins of a hilltop fortress and the megalithic Temple of Diana (Tempio di Diana), goddess of the woods and hunters. Apart from being surrounded by all this mystique and magic, ‘The Rock’ is also the place to enjoy the greatest panoramic views of Cefalù, and can be reached by foot in only a few minutes from our great variety of holiday apartments and homes.
Cefalu is a perfect base for exploring Sicily’s most important sights, such as the Agrigento’s Valley of the Temples, Syracuse and Monreal’s famed cathedral, as Cefalù boasts an outstanding infrastructure of bus lines, trains and other forms of public transport ensuring that the possibilities of visiting these and other points of interest and the neighbouring towns is easy and convenient.
Many luxurious private mansions lie on the outskirts but in close proximity to Cefalù. With a rented car or with a car of your own the historical centre of Cefalù is only a comfortable few minutes away.
