Travelsafety in Sicily during the pandemic of Covid-19

COVID-19 SITUATION IN SICILY (article updated  30th April, 2021)

Thank you for your kind understanding, that we are unable to reply to requests for additional information you may not find here, unless you are a customer of ours.

Quarantene requirement: Until 15th May travellers entering Italy / Sicily from countries of the list C (Schengen member tates, UK, Israel) must undergo a 5 day quarantine, exciting it with a new negativ test.

Sicily is back in Orange Zone until 2nd May and will most probably be back to Yellow from 3rd or 10th May (official confirmation expteced this week). The several colours explained: Yellow means: all shops are open. Bars, restaurants are also open for consumption inside the premises (until 18h, then take-away), museums are open. It is possible to travel within the whole of Sicily for tourist purposes. The curfew is from 22h - 5h. Tourists are allowed to travel to and within Sicily. It is helpful to book a holiday home in advance, to which you have the right to travel at any time, even if you have to cross the whole of Italy to do so. This is often misunderstood on the relevant travel websites. Orange means: all shops are open. Bars and restaurants are only open for take-away. You are not allowed to travel within the individual regions unless you can show a confirmed booking for a place to which you are allowed to travel, if necessary through various regions of Italy.  Once you are there, you must abide by the restrictions that apply to everyone at the holiday destination.  Red means: shops are closed except shops of daily needs, foodstors, bookshops, pharmacies, childrens clothes etc. Bars and restaurants do not offer take-away.

Self declaration form:  To be on the safe side, print it and take it with you to present it to your carrier together with a negativ antigen test when asked. For all international travellers the following link is helpful for further information regarding travel restrictions

Restrictions during your holiday: 1m distance to other people besides people travelling in your group. If distance can't be maintained due to crowdy places a facemask is requested. Experts strongly recommend to also often wash hands thoroughly with soap.

Tests required for travellers from all countries:  Catania and Palermo airport provide rapid tests (free of charge) upon arrival within 1 hour. Alternatively a test result not older than  48 hours can be presented on arrival. Please also check with the airports directly via the links to airport Palermo and airport Catania

Cancellation policy for new bookings: Due to the pandemic an amended  cancellation policy is applicable for new bookings valid for arrivals in 2020 and 2021.  New bookings can be cancelled free of charge until the day of arrival should it not be possible to enter Sicily due to new travel restrictions for Italy (issued by the Italian Government) or requirement of quarantine in the country of origine at your return or at destination. This amended policy does not apply to flight cancellations if there would be alternative flights. As there are countless other reasons for which your travel plans may be interrupted, we strongly recommend taking out a travel insurance. Would you like to book a villa for next year but feel unsure about Covid-19 and cancellation fee if things get worse again? Check out with this travel insurer which covers cancellation due to travel warning for Italy issued after you booked your trip. Travel warnings for Italy will be lifted soon also from countries like the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

While in Italy or Sicily: In event of suspicion for Covid-19 call the relevant number you can find here for each Italian province.

Sicily4U customer support: We will help you, should your trip be impossible or only partially feasible, to rebook or cancel your bookings at favourable rate by renegotiating depending on the booking and travel situation. We extend payment deadlines if the situation remains uncertain. However, as an agency for holiday homes in Sicily, we are ultimately subject to Italian rental law, which by decree provides for travel vouchers instead of refunds. Important: If you have not taken out travel insurance, as strongly recommended by us under clause 8) in our General Terms and Conditions at the time of booking, please also check the cancellation protection of your card provider (if you have paid by credit card). If the entry restrictions have been lifted and the stay in the booked holiday home is possible, as a rule our General Terms and Conditions accepted at the time of booking apply.

Cleaning of our villas: We guarantee a thorough cleaning and disinfection of our villas, so that you can enjoy a risk-free stay.
